The School
If you aim to discover the Atlantic coast and learn French, then Biarritz is the appropriate destination. Gateway to the Basque country, 200km south from Bordeaux and 40km from Spain, Bayonne/Biarritz is famous for its sandy beaches and fantastic surfing.
With its huge beaches, powerful waves and mild climate all year round, Biarritz was the natural choice in 1957 to welcome the first surfers of the European continent and to become Europe's historical surfing capital. While it attracts thousands of young people in search of sun and sea during the summer, it is also a town that is just the right size, neither too big nor too small (160 000 inhabitants), warm and friendly, lively and exciting, with a cultural environment to match its natural beauties.It is also thanks to the legendary mildness of the local climate that thalassotherapy and year-round golf have developed so well.
The summer school for juniors is based in the Youth Guesthouse, situated a 35 minutes walk from the town centre or 20 minute bus ride from the town centre and the beach at Biarritz. All students have lessons in a nearby school building. Activities take place in the Guesthouse and on the beach.
During the day students have access to a large amount of leisure and sports facilities (football, volleyball, table tennis). In peak season we have up to 150 students from all over Europe in the centre. That means that students will get impressions of other cultures and French will be the language of communication. A large choice of activities is offered on campus.
Campus location:
• 20 minutes by bus from the beach in Biarritz and 40 minutes by bus from the beach in Anglet
• 35 minutes walk from the town centre and beach of Biarritz
• Bank is situated 5 minutes by foot from the residence.
• Post-office is located 10 minutes by foot
• Large supermarkets are 30 minutes by bus away, small shops 5 minutes by foot.
