The School
The English Language Summer program in Toronto is vibrant and exciting! It is designed for students who are interested in learning English by being immersed in an English-speaking environment. A variety of field trips, daily classes, sporting activities and a fully organized on-camp programme keep the students occupied and learning at all times.
There are 3 separate Language programs:
- Junior English Camp for students 7 to 10 years of age, - Intermediate English Camp for students 11 to 13 years of age, - Senior English Camp for students 14 to 17 years of age.
The students are supervised on a 24-hour basis by the camp staff. There is 1 staff member for every 5 students in the Junior Camp; 1 staff member for every 7 students in the Intermediate Camp; and 1 staff member for every 10 students in the Senior Camp.
The school is located in downtown Toronto on the quiet and historic University of Toronto campus. It is steps away from the subway and very close to the popular Yorkville area, Queen's Park and many important places of interest in Toronto.
The program counsellors are University students who have undergone extensive training and have experience in working with young people. Each counsellor has training in a specific area of interest (e.g. basketball, drama, and guitar) and the camp staff has completed First Aid courses.
English classes are taught by professional teachers who have a background in teaching English as a second language and experience in working with young students.
Class lessons are based on the communicative approach to teaching languages. Lessons are designed specifically for the various age groups at the camps. We offer a variety of levels from absolute beginners to high advanced. Audiovisual equipment, weekly computer laboratories (internet) along with visits to University libraries enhance the in-class lessons.
