The School
Quito has a population of approximately one and a half million and is the capital of the country. It has been built lengthwise from north to south in a beautiful valley surrounded by high peaks. The nearest are the Rucu and Guagua Pichincha which are the backbone of Quito's beauty. A drive up the mountain will bring you to an ideal spot for beautiful sight-seeing and will give you a complete panoramic view of the city.
During sunny days, which are most of the year, it is possible to observe, preferably from this place, but also from any other place of the city, the numerous peaks forming the Callejon Internadino or Avenida de Los Volcanes (Avenue of the Volcano). The city rises 2,850 meters above sea level, with an annual average temperature of 13 degrees C.
It was founded in 1534 by Sebastian de Benalcazar and was the first Spanish capital city in South America. The school is housed in a beautiful mansion, surrounded by gardens in a lovely residential area of Quito. There's a hot tub, Turkish and sauna baths, salon and dancing areas. A private catering service provides lunch as a main meal around 1:15, consisting of typical entrees, salad, vegetables, tropical fruits and juices. Coffee, tea and pure water are available all day.
The school offers one of the finest programs of Spanish language study in Ecuador. Classes are never more than 4 students and taught by native Spanish speakers who have received extensive training in teaching Spanish to adult learners.
The teaching staff is superb. All teachers have a University Degree in Spanish Philology and have been carefully selected because of their qualifications and experience in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Some of them are Doctors or have Master Degrees in teaching Spanish and literature, history or Latin-American culture. They refresh their teaching skills, receiving special courses every year. The school chooses the teachers for their ability to listen their enthusiasm, kindness and patience, but most of all for their love of teaching Spanish to foreign students. All of them know how to motivate, develop and support the student´s curiosity and interest in the Spanish Language, Ecuadorian culture and social life. They also know that the learning process continues outside the classroom.
The school is set in the residential area of El Batan, a colonial design, with interior patio, 21 classrooms, video room with amplification equipment, library, teachers room auditorium, solarium, cafeteria, a multipurpose indoor court (racquetball, wallyball, speed soccer and basketball field), internet service, bathroom and access for wheelchair users, elevator, nine classes with digital connection for interactive participation between the schools in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, places for students to study outdoors and much more things for our students.
