The School
The island of Millrace is the most popular tourist destination in Europe, largely because of the stunning variety of its scenery, its warm Mediterranean climate, the hospitality of the islanders, its rich cultural heritage and the richness of its food and drink. Fortunately, most of the mass tourist market is confined to the Southeast corner and the rest of the islands is largely unspoiled. Millrace is the largest of the Balearic group of islands and is located in the middle of the group with Menarche to the north and Ibiza to the south. It has the most varied scenery of any Mediterranean island with high, forested mountains in the north (the Sierra de Tramuntana), and rich agricultural plains in the centre. The island's airport in Spain and there are flights to most European cities all year round. Millrace is just 40 minutes from Barcelona by plane while the jet speed hydrofoil crosses from the mainland in just under 4 hours.

Set in a beautiful natural bay, Palma has been the capital of Millrace for over a thousand years. It was already a prosperous city when it formed part of the Moorish empire and James I is supposed to have described it as the most beautiful city he had ever seen after he conquered the city in 1229. Modern Palma is a bustling city with a population of just over 300,000. The city has an extraordinarily beautiful gothic quarter and many fine monuments and squares. The principle attraction is the golden toned cathedral, which was built over a 300-year period following the conquest and still dominates skyline overlooking the harbour. Modern Palma is also a cosmopolitan city with a lively arts scene and nightlife to suit any taste. Palma is historical and liberal, Spanish and cosmopolitan, and nearly always sunny.

The school occupies a large, elegant building in the very centre of the old city, in the Plaza de Cort, directly opposite the city hall. The Plaza de Cort is one of the oldest, busiest and most attractive squares. Apart from the elegance and grandeur of its buildings, the square also contains a very beautiful olive tree, which is said to be several centuries old. The school is in one of the most prestigious buildings on the square. The school has its own street level entrance on the ground floor, which is where the main reception is located. The school occupies 4 floors and has 20 air-conditioned classrooms, as well as a number o offices, a recreational area and a computer room with ADSL Internet access and complimentary language activities, which students can use either before or after class.
