The School
Created in Hyeres in 1975, new premises built in 1989.
*All ages (minimum 16), all professional backgrounds and all nationalities welcome.
*Capacity 130 students; small enough so that everyone is personally known and taken care of, big enough in order to offer the best learning facilities and setting.
*Bicycles at students' disposal.
*The Directors personally attend to the administration and are always present to assure the satisfaction of everyone.
*The Director of Studies guarantees the constant quality of the courses and takes a personal interest in the students' progress.
*The teachers, professional and dedicated, are all university graduates with considerable experience of teaching French to foreigners.
Learning facilities:
*12 bright and spacious classrooms equipped with overhead projectors and tape-recorders.
*3 video rooms.
*Language laboratory.
*Free loan of books and cassettes from our library.
*Free use of the language lab and video rooms for private studies in the afternoon.
*Extra homework set and corrected free of charge by the Director of Studies.
Setting:
*Purpose-built air-conditioned premises in grounds of 4000 sqm with large private car-park.
*Attractive Mediterranean garden (olive-trees, mimosas, palm trees...).
*Large terrace with tables, chairs and sunshades where students can chat, work and have lunch.
*Self-service restaurant open for drinks or lunch at very reasonable prices: sandwiches, selection of salads, "plat du jour" such as spaghetti, salmon, chicken curry ...., and vegetarian dishes, all freshly made in our kitchen.
*An "internet corner" for students to surf on the web or send and receive personal emails.
*Boule ground for the traditional "petanque".
*3 table-tennis tables.
*Social games (backgammon, scrabble....).
*Synthesizer, guitar ....
Lessons are held Monday to Friday except on French national holidays.
*Average 8 students per class, maximum 12.
*6 to 10 different levels, from elementary to advanced.
*No class for complete beginners. If you have absolutely no knowledge of French, you can take an individual course before joining the elementary class.
*Oral and written evaluation on arrival in order to test your skills and place you in the right class.
*Serious and well-structured programs will enable you to develop all 4 skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
*Motivation and curiosity are stimulated by using a wide range of different exercises on grammar structures, video films, discussions, vocabulary, newspaper articles, French songs, role-plays etc...
*Large variety of themes for the afternoon options: political and social life in France, French literature, French regions, French history, French cuisine, French wines, slang and colloquial French etc...
*General intensive and intensive-plus courses can also prepare for the DELF-1st degree examinations: students can take the DELF tests in a DELF exam centre in our area if the dates allow for it, or alternatively take them in their own country (Cultural Services of their French Embassy will advise them of the dates).
*Intensive-plus courses are meant for those who do not have a lot of time or who have a particular need (i.e. for an exam or a new job...) or who want to insist on a particular skill (listening, writing business letters...).
*This school is recognized as an exam centre for the Alliance Française "diplome de langue" and organizes several examinations per year. Pass rate is between 90 and 100 %.
