The School
This course takes place in Tarragona, a pleasant coastal resort approximately 100 km south of Barcelona (86 km from the airport). Tarragona is a provincial capital and has a population of around 115,000. It is situated on the Costa Dorada and is an ideal location for a junior program of this kind. The town is lively, but not too big; it has its own sandy beaches within walking distance of the school; it is very close to Port Aventura - one of Europe's largest theme parks and it is only an hour from Barcelona by bus or train. The school was opened in 1980. The building is on a broad tree-lined avenue (the Rambla) in the very center of the city. The school is spread over two floors of a typical townhouse, and there are ten spacious classrooms as well as a study area and student lounge. The director and her team have extensive experience organizing teen courses and dealing with younger students.
There is a 24-hour reception service that strictly enforces the curfew policy which is that all students are back at their accommodation by 11:30 pm, except on Saturday when the deadline is extended until 12:30 am. This policy is strictly enforced both by the host families or the monitor at the residence.
